Hi there, mate and I just needing some info asap regarding Wilbinga camping. We are thinking of heading there for new years, but don’t have a 4×4, VW Camper Van so where would we camp ect would we be ok, we 2 chicks with no idea lol. Please help us with info
Honestly, i’d advise not going to Wilbinga for camping unless you have a four wheel drive or are very familiar with the area. Nothing is worse than trying to get a vehicle out of soft sand in the hot weather!
I’m heading down to Collie in mid April to do some camping, and looking at staying at Honeymoon pools. I’ve read what you had to say about it there, I’ts how we made our choice actually and I was wondering if there is any other info or tips about good places to see whilst in the Collie area?
Have you got a four wheel drive? There’s some great tracks around Brunswick and Harvey that you can check out. Harvey Dam is worth a look too. Have a look at Brunswick 4×4 for some more information
Me and a few mates went down to Yaegarup, down near Pemberton this weekend just gone, its absoloutly fantastic and the track is really easy, forest meets huge dunes meets lakes meets awesome beach. highly recommend that you take a trip down there, a bit of a drive and you do need 10psi at some points but totally worth it, great camping too.
This is the next place on my list! Is Lake Jasper open again yet? I’ve heard plenty of good things about the Warren River area – I will head down next time I get a chance.
Hey mate me and a bunch of mate are thinking of going to mundaring powerlines this Saturday 15/9/2012 and was wondering if anyone else would like to come along. We will be meeting at KFC mundaring at 9 am for a 9:30am leave . If anyone would like to come just sent me a txt on 0450281919. Regards Daniel
Hey aaron, track was still in good condition few rutted out sections, few of the mud hole r a hell of a lot deeper than last time. I’ll give you a yell next time I’m goin out if your interested.
Thanks for the report. I’ve seen some of the mud holes – over roof height on a 100 series Land Cruiser running 36″ tyres and a 6″ lift. You have to be very careful with selecting which ones you go through!
p.s do you think it will do any goodand willbiniga is not the place for unexperinced as i live in moorerive and go there with my mates with my moto and mitchabishy van
Hey Aaron
This site is great mate!! It’s the perfect site for people like me who are just getting into the spirit of things.
I have just bought a tough 60 series turbo diesel (in pretty good nick for its age) with the intensions of adventure in mind!!
I have never owned a 4×4 nor really been much of an outdoorsy type until now and to tell you the truth, so this site has got heaps of helpfull hints and tips for people starting out.
Cant wait to get out there and learn how to do take the 4wd through different terrains and learn a bit more about fishing and this site just gets me more fired up to get out there and check out some of the places you have recommended.
Keep up the great work and hopefully I dont pester you too much for info and advice!!
Great choice of vehicle. They are great on fuel, great off road and they have plenty of room. You have one of the best engines Toyota ever made. There’s plenty to check out in WA – dive into it!
Your best bet is to check with the DEC. However, from my knowledge you are allowed to take crays, but not use a gidgee (or speargun). If you head out north of Point Peron though you are allowed to spearfish
Just wondering where the middle picture of the crystal clear water lapping the beach and the bush in the background was taken? That looks AMAZING! I’m heading to Moore river this weekend for some sand duning down the slopes. REALLY want to know where that image is so I can check it out
Hoping that you could help. Looking at planning an overnight camp out that is suitable for compact 4×4′s. Looking at leaving on a Saturday morning and travelling around 200kms from Perth and setting up camp and then going exploring. Do you have any suggestions? Thinking of doing this for a Christmas in July for our club meeting, and ideas would be helpful.
These days, 200km doesn’t give you a huge range of opportunities. Dwellingup is great, and there are plenty of places to explore. What sort of four wheel driving are you looking for? Brunswick Junction is another, but both places have some pretty serious four wheel drive tracks. I would be looking at places even further away though!
Hi Aaron,
Just wondering if you have gone through with putting your part time four wheel drive kit. Me and a mate both have 100 series and have been looking into it. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers Henry

Hi Oscar,
What type of vehicle is this? Sounds like it has a massive lift kit!
Aaron
Hi Oscar,
Wilbinga is fairly tame, providing you don’t try too hard on any of the big hill climbs!

am i allowed to freedive gidji in the General Use Zone of the shoalwater marine park? Can loop snare crays there from the shore?
Hi Troy,
Your best bet is to check with the DEC. However, from my knowledge you are allowed to take crays, but not use a gidgee (or speargun). If you head out north of Point Peron though you are allowed to spearfish

G’day Smidsy,
I’ve been looking into adding a forum recently, but it will take some time!
If you aren’t on the Perth 4×4 forum jump on there, and also 4WD action has plenty of WA members

Hi Dave,
That photo was taken at the mouth of the estuary in Walpole. I stayed at Coalmine Beach Caravan Park for a few days, and loved it.
Aaron
Any suggestions for camping with a caravan in that area over easter
G’day mate,
What area are you speaking of? You will have to get in early if its anywhere near Perth – they fill up super fast!

Hi Henry,
I have; check out http://www.triggertravel.com/4×4/part-time-kit/
Totally recommend it!

Cheers for that, I’ll definitely be investing in one once I get back from karajini. Getting sick of the back lash.
