The car sounds great. I am sure it will do you well for beach driving and anything else you throw at it. Owning a four wheel drive opens up your options so much as far as great camping spots, fishing, snorkeling and relaxing away from the multitude! The pine plantation that you talk about is something I have heard of, but never visited.

Enjoy your car, and make use of it!

Actually looking at google maps I think Wilbinga was where I did a 4 WD training course a few years back, the trainer ( guy from South Perth ) took us up to Mundaring first then through the back of Peirce airbase and out to the coast near some pine plantations. Great spot !!!

Will try Wilbinga, sounds good, my Triton is a 92, 3 litre petrol, $4000 special, it runs well and has had regular servicing, driven around Hedland mainly. I want to start out slow and just use it primarily for some beach fishing weekends so not into the high dunes and "soft " sand just yet. Your site has got me very interested in the 4 WD lifestyle so see what happens. Looks like fun though.

Hey mate,

I used to go there quite regularly and fish, but I have read in a few places that beach access along that whole part of the coast is illegal and the Ranger's will fine you if you are caught. However, there are still a lot of people that go there. I would suggest you head a bit further north to Wilbinga where you are allowed to be, and you have more options for driving and fishing. The triton's are great cars. What year and engine?

Aaron,

Hi, I`ve just bought a mitsy triton 4x4 ute for a bit of beach fishing, do you know if you can access the beach around Alkimos ? I know the councils are coming down on beach access close to Perth but really cant find a lot of info on the council websites.

Cheers
